When you use the site, we may collect the following data:
  • Contact information, such as your name, email address (including university email address), and phone number.
  • Account credentials, such as your password, which is stored securely.
  • Profile details, such as your university/college, academic year, major, housing type, meal plan, gender, and any optional interests or bio you choose to share. Parent accounts may also include expected graduation year and schools of interest.
  • Payment and payout information, processed on our behalf by Stripe (see Section 4).
  • Communications, including messages sent through our in-app messaging feature and metadata about video calls scheduled through Daily.co.
  • Technical data, such as your IP address, device/browser information, and location data.
  • Cookies and similar analytics data (see Section 6).

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:
  • Verify student enrollment status and eligibility to use the platform.
  • Match parents and families with students based on the schools and criteria they select.
  • Facilitate and schedule paid consultations, including processing payments and payouts.
  • Send account-related emails, such as verification, confirmations, and receipts.
  • Send promotional or marketing communications, if you have opted in.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the platform, including detecting fraud or abuse.
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

Safeguarding and Securing the Data

TasteCampus is committed to securing your data and keeping it confidential. tasteCampus has done all in its power to prevent data theft, unauthorized access, and disclosure by implementing the latest technologies and software, which help us safeguard all the information we collect online. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

Payment Information

All payments and payouts on TasteCampus are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number, bank account number, or other sensitive payment details on our own servers — that information is collected and stored directly by Stripe. We do retain records of transactions (such as the amount, date, and status of a payment) for accounting, tax, and support purposes. Students who receive payouts will have their payout information, such as a linked bank account, handled directly by Stripe under its own privacy policy.

Video Calls and Messaging

Video consultations are hosted through Daily.co. TasteCampus does not record or store video or audio from these calls. Messages sent through our in-app messaging feature are stored on our servers so that conversations remain available to both participants, and may be reviewed by TasteCampus staff to investigate reports of abuse, harassment, or violations of our policies. Please do not share sensitive personal information, such as financial details or government ID numbers, during video calls or in messages.

Our Cookie Policy

Once you agree to allow our site to use cookies, you also agree to use the data it collects regarding your online behavior (analyze web traffic) The data we collect by using cookies is used to customize our site to your needs. After We use the data for statistical analysis, the data is completely removed from our systems. Please note that cookies don't allow us to gain control of your computer in any way. They are strictly used to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not so that we can provide a better experience for you. If you want to disable cookies, you can do it by accessing the settings of your internet browser. We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, or tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you request that we delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain certain records, such as transaction and payment records, by law.

SMS and Phone Communications

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive calls and text messages from TasteCampus related to your account and scheduled meetings, and, if you opt in, promotional messages. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, or by contacting us at tastecampus@gmail.com.

Marketing Communications

If you have opted in to receive marketing or promotional emails from us, you can unsubscribe at any time using the "unsubscribe" link included in those emails, or by contacting us directly. You will still receive essential account-related emails, such as verification and payment receipts, even if you opt out of marketing emails.

Our site contains links that lead to other websites. If you click on these links tasteCampus is not held responsible for your data and privacy protection. Visiting those websites is not governed by this privacy policy agreement. Make sure to read the privacy policy documentation of the website you go to from our website.

Restricting the Collection of your Personal Data

At some point, you might wish to restrict the use and collection of your personal data. You can achieve this by doing the following: When you are filling in the forms on the site, make sure to check if there is a box which you can leave unchecked, if you don't want to disclose your personal information. If you have already agreed to share your information with us, feel free to contact us via email and we will be more than happy to change this for you. tasteCampus will not lease, sell or distribute your personal information to any third parties, unless we have your permission. We might do so if the law forces us. Your personal information will be used when we need to send you promotional materials if you agree to this privacy policy.

Children's Privacy and Age Eligibility

TasteCampus is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Student accounts are intended for current college/university students verified through a university email address. Parent accounts are intended for use by adults age 18 and older. If you are a parent signing up on behalf of a prospective student who is a minor, you are responsible for supervising their use of any information or connections made through our platform. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. In Person Meetings

tasteCampus always recommends that our users exercise caution when meeting with strangers. We try to foster a safe and inclusive environment for all users, especially our students. It is recommended that you ONLY MEET IN PUBLIC AREAS, do not accept rides from any unknown person. If you feel unsafe at any time you have the obligation to leave and report the situation to us at tasteCampus or local authorities if necessary. tasteCampus does not conduct criminal background checks on students or parents and cannot guarantee the identity or intentions of any user, so please use your best judgment when interacting with other users.

Regards to third party programs

tasteCampus does use sites that are not affiliated with tasteCampus, these sites have their own privacy policies and are not reflective on this privacy policy. Some of the services that we use at tasteCampus are the following: Firebase and Google Cloud (for account authentication, data storage, and hosting), Daily.co (for video calls), Stripe (for payments), and Resend (for email services).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of TasteCampus after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
